The 5 hottest coffee destinations on Maui

hawaiian_coffee_sign

Do you love coffee as much as we do? If yes, then you probably already know about Hawaii and coffee — we’re the only state in the US that grows it.

And while it’s no secret that Kona coffee started the trend, each of Hawaii’s other islands produce their own unique and tasty varieties (Molokai Muleskinner, Big Island’s Ka’u and Hamakua, Kauai Coffee and Waialua Estate from Oahu to name a few).

This brings us to Maui, home to more than 50 coffee farms spanning over 500 acres. That’s a lot of java!

Now onto the good stuff. According to locals, these are the top 5 coffee hotspots on Maui:

Honolulu Coffee Company (Wailea)

If you like your coffee in an upscale ambience, head over the The Shops at Wailea, home to the Honolulu Coffee Company. The scene is bright, lively and primed for people watching…with great coffee, of course. Says one fan:

Both their hot drinks and cold drinks are always done to perfection, never burnt, and not overly sugary or chocolaty like you get in most coffee shops.

Java Cafe (Kihei)

Here’s a place that opens at 5am and describes itself as a “cozy environment to enjoy locally sourced beverages.” Locals describe it as a great place for early risers and jetlagged travelers, thanks to excellent coffee and food and free wifi.

Says a local Kihei resident:

I love that they display art, it makes the already pleasant atmosphere even more esthetically pleasing. Excellent service every time. It is a great place to meet up with a friend or a business partner.

The Maui Grown Coffee Company Store (Lahaina)

This coffee shop is an extension of the Maui Grown Coffee Company. It’s at located at “the smoke stack” in Lahaina, where the atmosphere is nostalgic of the old plantation days.

According to Lahaina local David Morgan:

The atmosphere feels like you’re going back in time to a Maui sugar cane plantation house from the early 1900’s. The service is always friendly, and the coffee is awesome.
